Vintage Brass Ship Lantern

Fully Refurbished Vintage Original Ships / Nautical Brass Lantern.

Note. This is NOT a Chinese/Indian reproduction copy.

It is a genuine nautical brass lantern that has been converted from kerosene / wick to electric.

It is difficult to put a date to it, but given it was a kerosene/paraffin lamp originally, it was likely made early to mid 20th century, and the internal decorative reflector and copper crown around the wick indicates that is was probably a Ward room or Dining room lamp.

The wick crown has been carefully retained and a brass lamp holder firmly positioned in the centre.

The lamp had been painted over as were many lamps during conflicts, plus it saved on the polishing. However, I have removed this and polished the lamp to a good standard.

Many lamps are over polished and look like copies but I’ve refurbished this one to reflect its use and retain minor scuffs (it can be polished further given time and elbow grease), however I feel that the light reflecting off the copper work gives it depth, contrast and interest.

The glass is all in good condition with no cracks or fractures. The glass actually reflects the quality of the lantern as it is soldered into place rather than with folding retaining tabs.

I’ve renewed the flex with bronze coloured twisted corded cotton flex (not pvc) to give it an authentic mid century feel, and it is fitted with a 3-amp fused black UK plug with inline on/off switch.

This is a stunning lantern that will look good on a side table, desk, or hanging from above via its inbuilt top ring and a chain.

It is newly rewired to UK standards (220-240 v) and PAT tested (Portable Appliance Electrically Tested) for your safety and confidence.
